It seems that life has decided to no go our way lately. Aside from the miscarriage, Brian's computer crashed and we had to buy a new one. Then his car went in the shop last week and they had to replace the computer that controls the engine. Now my car is in the shop and it needs a new radiator. I'm trying not to freak out about everything, but I can tell that Brian is fed up with everything going wrong. It just makes me wonder what we did to deserve all of this crap being thrown on us. There better be a freakin' huge rainbow at the end of this with the world's largest pot of gold at the end!
Okay...deep breath.
I have started my quest in learning Java programming. I have a bit of BASIC programming under my belt, so I thought I might be able to do this. I started Thursday night, and couldn't even figure out what program to use and how the heck to download it. Luckily, the software you need to write and run java programs is all free (thanks, Sun) so there are tons of software out there to use. It's just a matter of finding one that you like. Well, I don't know what I like yet, so I really need someone to say..."use this". On Friday I went out and bought "Beginning Programming with Java for Dummies" and have started on my way. This book has taken me from step one, and I am feeling better about learning Java. It seems to have a bit of algebraic thought that goes along with it, plus a ton of keywords that you need to know. I'm still pluggling along with learning it, and am going to keep at it, It isn't going to be easy, and luckily Brian has a tiny bit of C++ under his belt, so he's doing what he can to help me out.
I go on Monday to meet with the HR people for the school district I am going to be working in. This is going to be a whole different experience from working in Cherry Creek, where you have a week of new staff orientation. I think I may have one day where I have to set up stuff, but otherwise all the paperwork is done one-on-one with the HR people. I may actually be a name in this district; what a concept!
